This is a Master Degree level course in Geotechnical Design. Students learn advanced theoretical, numerical and empirical design methods associated with Geotechnical Engineering. Advanced foundation design, slope stabilization, retaining systems, braced excavations, and soil modification are addressed. Design work will be presented with reference to current Eurocode practice and other appropriate codes. Data collection and analysis, design loading actions, conditions for performance, and integration with field performance data are emphasized.
